SMTP, IMAP and POP3
SMTP outbound email access, you may send email through your own server. Many ISPs disable access to port 25 which SMTP uses to prevent use of their service for sending junk mail. You must check that your ISP does not block port 25 to be able to use the SMTP feature. You also receive access to both POP3 and IMAP email. You can create your own mailboxes and users. IMAP Idle is installed, which allows you to automatically receive your emails instantly.
About IMAP and POP3
What is IMAP?
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a method of accessing electronic mail or bulletin board messages that are kept on a (possibly shared) mail server. In other words, it permits a "client" email program to access remote message stores as if they were local. For example, email stored on an IMAP server can be manipulated from a desktop computer at home, a workstation at the office, and a notebook computer while traveling, without the need to transfer messages or files back and forth between these computers.

What is POP3?
POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3) and its predecessors are designed to allow end users with intermittent connections such as dial-up connections to retrieve email when connected, and then to view and manipulate the retrieved messages without needing to stay connected. Although most clients have an option to leave mail on server, email clients using POP3 generally connect, retrieve all messages, store them on the user's PC as new messages, delete them from the server, and then disconnect. In contrast, the newer, more capable IMAP email retrieval protocol supports both connected and disconnected modes of operation.

Notes for Webmasters
- For additional security, database access is through 127.0.0.1 only. Localhost may not function. Since the two are interchangable, this will not affect scripts beyond renaming if necessary.
- To protect against abuse of email forms by third parties and protect other server users, scripts named formmail are against the Terms Of Service. Renaming an existing formmail script to something else will suffice.
- sFTP is not supported due to additional CPU load on the server. Please ensure you use strong passwords for all accounts.
